Upended

When I started Upended in spring 2024, I’d been glued to the news, filled to overflowing with horrendous reports of unconscionable wars, climate change disasters, the rise of the far right, and more. As I often do, I began by developing a layered background. I then added a foreground of geometric shapes designed to suggest how upside down the world felt to me; how so many of the social justice gains made in my lifetime seemed at risk of disappearing. Sadly, little has improved since then.
